What Is Functional Range Conditioning (FRC®)?

Have you ever stretched daily, yet still felt stiff when you tried to sprint, squat, or rotate your hips? That’s because flexibility alone isn’t enough — athletes need mobility, which is the ability to control joints through their full range of motion. That’s where Functional Range Conditioning (FRC®) comes in.

What Is Functional Range Conditioning?

Functional Range Conditioning (FRC®) is a science-based mobility training system created by Dr. Andreo Spina. Unlike traditional stretching, which only emphasizes flexibility, FRC® develops usable mobility — teaching your body to generate strength and control at every angle of your joints.

Why FRC® Matters for Athletes

Athletes and active individuals benefit from FRC® because it:

  • Expands usable mobility: Not just flexibility, but real joint control.

  • Strengthens tissues: Builds durability in joints, tendons, and ligaments.

  • Enhances performance: Improved mobility equals more efficient, powerful movement.

  • Supports recovery: A key tool for return-to-play and injury prevention.

At The Sports Pod, we combine FRC® with other therapies like Dry Needling, Active Release Therapy, and the Graston Technique to build rehab and performance programs that no other clinic in Dallas offers.

How FRC® Works

The FRC® system uses several training methods:

  • Controlled Articular Rotations (CARs): Daily joint “check-ins” that preserve and expand range of motion.

  • PAILs & RAILs (Progressive/Regressive Isometric Loading): End-range strength techniques to build more usable movement.

  • End-Range Training: Strengthening where you’re usually weakest to prevent injury and boost performance.

These methods help athletes move better, recover faster, and reduce long-term wear and tear.

Why We Use FRC® at The Sports Pod

Too often, clinics focus only on pain relief. At The Sports Pod, we prioritize long-term athletic performance. Our team — including Coach Eric Rosenstock — uses FRC® principles daily to help athletes in Dallas recover from injuries, build resilience, and return to competition stronger than before.

By combining FRC® with strength and conditioning principles, we’ve built a gold-standard approach to sports rehab and return-to-play protocols.
